Ronnie James Dio, American heavy metal vocalist and songwriter, passed away at 7:45 am today. (ronniejamesdio.com)  Today I have a heavy heart. My love goes to the family and friends of Ronnie. I feel the world will be a bit grayer without or beloved friend, Ronnie. I did not know Ronnie personally, but I have friends who knew him, some are acquaintances and others were closer. I feel like a member of my own family has passed away. Ronnie James Dio has had a profound impact on my life as well as the lives of so many people in and out of my life. Dio was known and loved around the world. Through his performances in so many great bands and his personal interviews we learned that Dio’s greatest work was his expression of love for all of us. Some of Dio’s works of love were: He performed with Testament of Apollo, Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell, and his own band Dio.

It has been a few months but the wound is still fresh. This great man, David Nore Olson, passed away on Febuary 3rd, 2009. His two years of battling kidney cancer is over. He was my grandfather and more of a grandfather than people know. He was father to many people and many ideas. One of which was of type of love that is so hard to find that it is a diamond in the rough. Grandpa Dave, as my siblings and I referred to him, was an amazing man to say the least. It is not without error to say that he was more of a Grandfather to me than my own biological grandfathers, whom of which one still lives, a former Professor of Education, and the other passed away, a member of our National Security. This man I speak of, Grandpa Dave, amazed me when he spoke and I will always have his voice to calm me and his wonderful stories echoing in my mind. (continue reading…)
